Ms. Bennett unintentionally became a librarian.  As an undergraduate at Ole Miss, she was a student worker in the Department of Archives and Special Collections within J.D. Williams Library.  She graduated with a Bachelors degree in journalism, then moved briefly to Memphis and Missoula before returning to Oxford where she got a full-time job in the Circulation Department at J.D. Williams Library once again.  There she was in charge the student workers that shelved and worked the service desks.  She eventually took on more duties including microforms (which are tiny photographic copies of magazines and other documents) and current periodicals (print magazines and newspapers).  She had two children, and with those children came the renewed great admiration and love of children's literature.  One June morning she woke her 7-year-old to take her to daycare, and she realized that there was a different way she could be doing library work that would bring her more joy.  So in 2015, she got her teaching certificate through the Teach Mississippi Institute, and started working as the Librarian at Della Davidson Elementary in 2016.  She is currently a student in the Masters of Library Information Science (MLIS) program at the University of Southern Mississippi.

When Ms. Bennett was in grades 3-4, some of her favorite books were The Babysitter's Club series, Ralph S. Mouse, Little House on the Prairie, The Hoboken Chicken Emergency, and Island of the Blue Dolphins.
